This is a very special and unusual plant. Vanda orchids hail from the steamy jungles of southeast Asia, where they grow clinging to the branches of trees. Because of this they do best in a large vase which creates a humid environment. Sarah Horne's arrangement is to ensure long life for this beautiful and vibrant orchid. It measures at about 75cm high.

Vanda orchids require bright light but generally do not thrive in full sunlight. They are a warm-house orchid and will bloom throughout the year. Vanda orchids are generally chosen for their blooms, with flowers in hot pink, red, blue, purple, or mottled. The most prestigious  flowers are flat and round, with very bright colours.
