As bank holiday brings summer to a close, it’s beginning to look a *bit* like Christmas…
This is what Sundays and bank holidays are for, no?
Not, it would appear, for everyone. I’m growing exhausted just watching her. Yes, whilst most of us enjoy a day off, my dear mother Sarah is hand-embellishing Christmas gift boxes.
You heard correctly. It’s only August bank holiday and already the studio is awash with gleaming gold paint. Though I must admit that the signature monochrome artwork is being accented divinely, delicate glints of gold catching the light here and there. It’s sure to add a certain festive je ne sais quoi to the new product range, making them a decidedly delightful gift.
From what I have gathered from animated snippets in the shop, the gift boxes are being produced well in advance because the recently-launched range of giftware is going out to trade, with those all-important first stockists being secured. This exciting time does just about justify the premature launching of yuletide spirit.
I expect this will become a regular sight over the coming months and envisage a wall of gift box bricks, a growing reminder that Christmastime is looming. They’ll look particularly lovely in the shop when it’s time to transfer to Christmas packaging, nestled between rich red petals and berries.
Gold was a great choice, in my (under-realised) creative opinion, considering some of the boxes will hold natural scented candles. Glowing, warming gold compliments candlelight better than the other obvious option of silver. But who knows whether that much thought went into it…I guess I’m the one that has time to over-analyse, whereas Mum is always too busy with something arty!
Have a good Sunday, friends. Be like Bandit and chill.
